Cathy Davey
Cathy Davey is an Irish, award winning musician and songwriter. She has released three albums to date, Something Ilk, Tales of Silversleeve (which garnered her a Choice Music Prize nomination, a Meteor Award for Best Irish Female, and spawned a number of successful singles including "Reuben" and "Sing for Your Supper"), and her most recent offering "The Nameless".
Cathy Davey's debut album, Something Ilk, was recorded at a studio in Wales, and released in 2004. Davey performed a nationwide tour in September to promote the album, and also supported Graham Coxon and Supergrass during tours they undertook that year.
In May of 2007, Davey performed another Irish tour, this time debuting songs from her follow-up album Tales Of Silversleeve. All but two of the songs on this second album were recorded in her home. The album was preceded by "Reuben", its first single, in September 2007 (subsequently went to number 1 in Ireland). The album received rave reviews and led to a Choice Music Prize nomination for 2007 Irish Album of the Year. The Irish Independent’s reviewer gave the album five stars, describing it as "a record that she can be proud of".
After a series of residencies, Davey embarked on a pre-Christmas tour of Ireland in 2007, and also appeared on the seventh series of Other Voices on RTE television in early 2008. She performed at Childline Rocks in February 2008, followed by a performance at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas that March.
She quickly accumulated numerous prestigious festival appearances including headlining the Main Stage at Cork X Southwest in Skibbereen in July 2008, she also performed at that year's Indiependence Festival, and also at Electric Picnic.
Davey's third album “The Nameless” was released in May 2010, and reached the number 1 spot in the Irish Charts. She performed the first single “Little Red” on the Late Late Show, and also undertook an Irish Tour, and also performed at Oxegen 2010.
