Naymedici play folk as it should be played, loud. Combining gypsy licks, Irish reels, punk guitars and thrashing drums, Naymedici have burst on to the UK and Irish music scene with an original fresh sound that is both in your face, and a lot of fun!
Comprising of brothers Mike (vocals/guitar) and Ron (drums), Josh (vocals/guitar/harmonica), Hilly (bass) and Bob (playing fast as folk fiddle), their renowned energetic live performances are sure to get even the most hardened crowd dancing in the aisles!
Their sound is a mixture of Balkan and Irish music, with hints of ska, and a big emphasis on lyrics. The band have two songwriters and singers who take what they say very seriously – Josh has been published in various poetry magazines, and Mike lists William Blake and Oscar Wilde amongst his influences! Add this to Hilly’s funk-tinged bass lines and Bob’s sublime fiddle, and of course Ron’s unforgiving, mile-a-minute Pogues-style drumming, and it is easy to see how this works! This vast array of styles and influences is what makes the melting pot of Naymedici sound so unique and foot tappingly adictive.
The band has certainly gone from strength to strength over the past year, ensuring a heavy booking schedule for the UK festival circuit, often stealing the show with their passionate, lively sets. Naymedici have also been booked for countless headline gigs around the northwest of England, including prominent live music venues such as Peter Hook’s new Factory Club, Night & Day Music Venue, and Dry Bar to name but a few.
In 2010, Naymedici made their way across the Irish Sea for the bands first tour of Ireland. Starting with sell out shows and capacity crowds in Clonakilty and Cork, followed by interviews and live performances on numerous radio stations, the band then travelled to Dublin, where they recorded a performance for Balcony TV and headlined the ever-popular ‘Sunday Roast’ night at The Mercantile.
Naymedici have also just finished in the studio, preparing their new EP entitled “Graffiti On The Wall”, which is due for UK release in 2012.
